When loading a saved game, the player starts at the begining of that map with their inventory intact.Okidoke. So can any one confirm that this is the case for ALL saved maps? I have gone through Doom, saving at certain areas (eg, just before new monsters are introduced) to show friends etc. Does this mean that for every level, anytime I go to load one of those saves that I will be spawned at the start of that map only?
Can anyone confirm this?Otherwise, given the small number of features/changes in this update (and the fact that I have had no problem with Doom 3 to date), I might just skip installing this. Well, the surround sound doesn't work.
There's only a static startup logo for the 'Doom II demo' with a few Mac OS buttons, and, if you fiddle with the mouse while playing, you get an application bar with some options. The 'full' version has a Lion entertainment logo, then an ID logo, and credit screen modelled after the E1 endlevel, and that's about it. How to download and run Doom. Doom (2016) is available on Steam for the Windows operating system. No official support for running Doom (2016) on the Mac operating system exists, however it may be possible to install the Windows version of Steam via Wine and run it there.
Or it does, but has serious problems. Everything seemed great at first, all lovely and surroundy and all, until I got to Marine Command for the briefing. The guy says 'This is the situation,' then the next sentence or two is silent. Then his voice comes back, and all seems fine again. But then when I finish the level and Mars City Underground is loading, the game quits back to the main menu partway through the loading, with no sound.
I tried a few times, and this always happens the same way. Switching OpenAL sound off fixes the problem, but then there's no surround of course. This is with 10.4.1, M-Audio Revolution 5.1 card, version 1.1.0 of the M-Audio drivers. I get quite acceptable speed with my 2.5 G5 and X800 card with everything on max so I don't care about performance improvements, but working surround would be nice. I guess this is why it was called a preview.so close! The sound quality was excellent, no pops or hiccups, but the game not actually working is a bummer.-Eric.
Hmmm.with my Revo 5.1 set to the 'None/OpenAL' surround option (or anything else), I get nothing from Doom 3. No sound at all. What am I doing wrong?AttSame here. Dual 1.8 G5 with 10.3.9, sound output set to 'Revolution 5.1 Analog', Revo control panel set to 'None/OpenAL', I'm running Doom in window mode, the output mixer is showing only stereo output (this is after starting Doom with command held down, selecting OpenAL option). I have gotten surround on movies using VLC player.Help needed.
This game is why I got the Revo 5.1 card. We're probably more likely to see performance updates coming from Apple/ATI/NVIDIA than Aspyr. As discussed ad nauseam when the first benchmarks were released, the major bottlenecks appears to be in the OpenGL framework/video card drivers.wonder if this will be anytime soon. And will it happen within a Tiger update??
Hmm hope soI've yet to test the latest doom updater or the latest macos 10.4.2 due to lack of time (tho that will change tomorrow!!). So anyone here seen any improvements with the new mac os release? I got it working with my system.
But haven't had time to play much. No crashes yet. Will probably have to wait until tomorrow before I have a good chunk of time to play. Eric5h5, did you send the crash log into Aspyr?Nope, because the game doesn't crash. As I said, it quits back to the main menu (with no sound playing). For those with problems getting surround, have you used the Audio MIDI setup program?

You want the 'Default Output' to be Revolution5.1 Analog. Or Revolution7.1 Analog if that's the case. Then a bit further down you select 'Properties For:' and select Revolution5.1. Then click on Configure Speakers. Then click on Multichannel.
Then 'Type:' should be 5.1 Surround. Then click on Apply, then Done. In the Revolution control panel, in the Speaker Setup tab, the Current Set: should be 5.1 Surround (although personally, due to my not quite ideal speaker setep, I have it set to 4.1 Surround). In the Surround Sound tab, it should be set to None/OpenAL.And that should do it.
I'm sure this doesn't apply to anyone else, but the biggest problem I had with surround (back when I was trying to get surround from UT2004) was with my receiver. I had the audio selector on analog, and couldn't get anything other than the front speakers to do anything. Eventually I figured out it was supposed to be on multichannel. However, when listening to music I put it back on analog, so I can get the fake surround processing, which multichannel doesn't do.-Eric. Nope, because the game doesn't crash.
